Description:
InspiringInterns.com - a brilliant service for students and graduates looking for that all-important work experience - intern jobs for students and graduates in London.

During the current economic downturn recent graduates are facing one of history’s toughest job markets.  With one in five graduates out of work after leaving university and
69 applicants for every position graduates are facing an extremely competitive job market. One feature of this complex issue has been the steady growth of the internship; once restricted to aspiring journalists and politicians, internships are now available across most industry sectors.

The issue of internships has also been featured highly in the media lately with the announcement of Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg’s social mobility strategy last month. A major part of the policy focuses on opening up internships to everyone, not just the “well-connected” giving young people access to all professions.  The aim of the scheme is to create fair access to internships and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

A good graduate internship can provide university leavers with valuable work experience, key skills and the potential to build up a network of contacts. It will both increase their understanding of a chosen industry and boost their employment chances. The concept central to every meaningful graduate internship is that the experience should be primarily about learning so that, on completion of the internship, they will then be valued and informed employees.

Internships strike a fair balance for someone who is predominantly learning, but also contributing fresh ideas, talent and enthusiasm to their company. They also provide an ideal opportunity for employers to better evaluate applicants before committing to employing them.

Once you have got an internship it is important to make the most of the opportunity. To prepare you should familiarise yourself with the company and the industry. Make sure you volunteer for projects that interest you and show lots of enthusiasm. Doing an internship is a great chance to develop connections in your chosen industry so ask questions, network and build a list of contacts.

Inspiring Interns actively match graduates and employers, eager to create opportunities for interns to earn permanent employment. They have placed over 850 interns at companies since they were established in January 09 with most of their vacancies based in London.  They have a success rate of 65% of the interns they place being taken on permanently by the company they interned for and 93% of interns securing a full-time job within a month of doing an internship.
